Schedule of Events

This is it - the 2009 schedule! For information about registration policies, see the Register page. Before deciding on workshops, please read the Workshop Info page for workshop descriptions, level requirements, and the meaning of 'on hold' workshops.

The MIT Tango Club and Springstep are hosting workshops to complement the Tango de los Muertos festival's offerings. MIT will host a Beginning Intensive Bootcamp, with four great instructors: Rebecca Rorick Smith and Eric Lindgren from Portland, OR, and Mitra Martin and Stefan Fabry from Los Angeles. These workshops will be held at MIT, so are not shown below. Springstep will host two Argentine Folkloric workshops (malambo and chacarera) with Pampa Cortes from Forever Tango.

Friday, 8pm, Shorey Myers
The Art of Mass Hypnosis - Techniques for the New and Experienced Tango DJ
Ever wondered how to make people fall in love with music from another language, culture, era and hemisphere? In this class, we will learn about the art and science of the tango dj - how to kick a milonga off and keep it going until early in the morning, how to read a crowd and foster their love of the music, how to make everyone feel good and dance better. If you have 'em, bring a laptop and headphones. No experience or music required!

Saturday, 8pm, Tova and Carlos Moreno
Strategies for Getting the Dances you Want and Improving your Milonga Experience

You just asked someone to dance and they said no.  Why?  You want someone to ask you to dance and they don't.  Why?  A person who normally says yes to you just said no.  Why?   In this presentation, we'll discuss ways to increase the odds of getting the dances you want and to enjoy yourself in a milonga, with a particular focus on the festival experience.

The Tango Jam, led by Liz Ehrman, is free and open to all musicians. No need to register for it, just show up! Email Liz for info <ehrmanliz at hotmail dot com>.
