Modes of Transport
For those of you traveling to Tango de los Muertos from far away, you'll fly into Logan International Airport. If you're coming from New York, Montreal or New England, you'll probably want to drive, take the Amtrak, or take a bus (including the $15 Chinatown bus from New York City). There is free parking at the Hyatt Place and Springstep. The subway system within Boston is good and can take you within walking distance of the Thursday milonga in Cambridge, but you'll need to either drive or take a bus to get to Medford for Springstep and the Hyatt Place. A cab from Logan airport to Medford will probably cost about $30. Read on for driving directions and public transportation routes to the festival venues.

Springstep and Hyatt Place are easy to get to by car, as they're right off I-93. (If coming from Logan Airport or Boston/Cambridge then get onto I-93 N.) Take I-93 to Exit 32 (Route 60), then...

As you're about to exit the rotary you can see Springstep on your left. Take your first left onto River Street. At the end of the block turn left onto Riverside Avenue. Turn left onto Clipper Ship Drive. Hyatt Place is just to your right and Springstep is straight ahead. You can pretty much park anywhere you see -- in the spots under and in front of the building, along the street, or in the municipal lots nearby. If you're staying at the hotel, park in the hotel lot.
Public Transportation
To take public transportation from Logan Airport to Medford, take the Silver Line bus to South Station. If coming by train, or inter-city bus (such as Greyhound or the Chinatown buses), you'll probably also arrive at South Station. It's a transportation hub, connecting passengers to trains, buses, the airport, and the subway. South Station is on the Red Line of the subway (called the "T" here).
Here's the route the
MBTA Trip Planner suggests to get to Medford from South Station:
- Take the Red Line outbound, towards Alewife.
- Get off the T at Davis Square and get onto bus 94 at the
Davis Square Busway. Get off the bus at the end of the line in Medford Square. Springstep is a block
away to the East, and the Hyatt Place is another block past Springstep to the South. The Trip Planner
suggests that it should take you about 45 minutes from South Station to get to Medford Square.
Here are some good Medford bus routes:
Bus Route 94 — Medford Square and Davis Square Station (Red Line of the T)
Bus Route 96 — Medford Square and Harvard Station (Red Line of the T)
Bus Route 101 — Malden Center Station and Sullivan Square Station (Orange Line of the T)
Bus Route 134 — North Woburn and Wellington Station (Orange Line of the T)
Bus Route 326 — West Medford and Haymarket Station (Orange Line of the T)
All of the buses listed above have a stop within a block or two of Springstep and the Hyatt Place. Some of them drop you off on Salem St. and some on Riverside Ave. When planning your bus trip be sure to note where the bus drops you off and then consult the map to orient yourself. Please note that public transportation does not run in the wee hours of the night. It stops around 12 or 1am and resumes service between 5 and 6am, so if you're planning on relying on public transportation, do consult the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority website to plan your trips.

Driving Directions
Check Google maps for driving directions from everywhere (119 Windsor St, Cambridge, MA, 02139). Parking is limited, however, so you should plan extra time to search for parking on the surrounding streets and may need to walk a few blocks. The earlier you arrive, the better for your parking options, so if you can, plan to have dinner at one of the restaurants right near the milonga on Main Street, or in Central Square, just a 15 minute walk to the milonga. See the Restaurants page for suggestions. There is a cheap parking garage in Central Square, if you're really stuck for parking. It's on Green Street, which runs parallel to Massachusetts Ave. Green Street is one way, so get there via Pearl Street and you'll be right there. Then follow the walking directions below as if getting off the subway in Central Square to head to the milonga.
